The Vrancea County Council, through the Vrancea Cultural Center, organizes the exhibition "The Language of Vrancea Crafts", on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 12:00, at the Focsani Art Galleries.
The event promotes Vrancea folk craftsmen from the localities of Păulești and Nereju, in the art of wood carving and the art of traditional sewing (folk costume).
The works of the two craftsmen present in the exhibition, Vasile Tudorache and Daniel Buloi, will be presented by Alina Ulmeanu, head of service at the Ethnography Section of the Vrancea Museum.
Vasile Tudorache, from the commune of Păulești, skillfully makes wooden objects: looms, bobbins, spinning wheels, warping machines, spoons, coffers, tables, chairs, etc. Raised in a family with moral and spiritual values, he practices the beautiful profession of woodworking, but also works as a stone carver, paints, writes poems, expressing his artistic sensitivity by combining folk traditions and crafts, but also through modern, contemporary art.
Daniel Buloi, from the village of Chiricari, Nereju commune, sews folk shirts, taking over the beautiful craft from his grandmother and mother. He learned to sew with passion and talent, since 1988, also attending the courses of the Popular School of Art to perfect his experience and notions in the art of folk costume. The colors used are black, blue, red, black, green, brown. The patterns used are floral and geometric.
The exhibition will be open to the public from November 15-17, 2024, between 10:00 and 16:00.
